Lefkada is perhaps the only island in Greece which has both easy and economical access.
The access road in Lefkada is the floating bridge that connects island to the Akarnania.
The bridge provides a continuous connection of Akarnania to the island of Lefkada and apart from specific time periods during which "opens" and rotates to help small boats pass through.
The hours of rotation of the bridge which connects Lefkada with the western Akarnania in order to make the passage of all vessels out as follows in a daily base:
From 10.00 to 16.00 hours full rotation every two hours (10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00).
For the remaining hours is the rotation per hour. |
The distance Athens - Lefkada officially estimated at 385 km.
To get there by road from Athens to Lefkada follow the following route:
Through the National Road "Athens - Korinthos" arrive and go towards
the new Rio-Antirio bridge.
Follow the path to Messolonghi and reaching out to this,
the village Kefalovriso Aitolikou.
Follow signs and turn on the new Ionian Road (35 kms)
The Ionia Street will take you just outside Amphilochia where you get your on way to Vonitsa and Lefkada.
Once you get in Vonitsa you turn left the main road and follow signs for Lefkas.
Distance from Athens (is about 385 km) and "reasonable" time
during which you can get to Lefkada car is about 4 to 4.30 hours.
The distance Thessaloniki - Lefkada officially estimated at 430 km.
To get by car from Thessaloniki to Lefkas follow the following route:
Via Egnatia highway arrive in Grevena city and from there follow the road Milia - Krania. This road will take you in Ioannina city.
From Ioannina towards Arta you will arrive in Amfilochia.
From Amfilochia follow the road to Vonitsa and Lefkada.
Once in Vonitsa you left the main road and follow signs for Lefkas.
Total distance from Thessaloniki (about 385 km) and "reasonable" time
when you can get to Lefkada drive around 4.30 to 5 hours. |
